Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup calamansi juice (or lemon juice)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced into rings
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the beef sirloin, soy sauce, calamansi juice, minced garlic, and black pepper. Marinate for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated beef slices, cooking until browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the onion rings and sauté until they are translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then pour in the beef broth and oyster sauce (if using). Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for an additional 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the beef to become tender.
  6. Season with salt to taste and sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
