Delicious Pork Adobo Recipe for Authentic Filipino Flavor
Experience the rich and savory taste of this classic Pork Adobo Recipe, a beloved Filipino dish made with tender pork marinated in a savory mix of soy...
Ingredients
- 2 pounds pork shoulder, cut into chunks
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 onion, sliced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the pork chunks with soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator for deeper flavor.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Remove the pork from the marinade (save the marinade) and brown the pork pieces on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour the reserved marinade and water into the pot with the browned pork. Stir in the brown sugar and add salt to taste.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour or until the pork is tender. Stir occasionally and add more water if needed.
- Once the pork is tender, uncover the pot and increase the heat to medium-high. Let the sauce reduce for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the pork adobo hot, garnished with chopped green onions over steamed rice.
