Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (12-14 lbs)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups bread cubes (stale or toasted)
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 4 cups green beans, trimmed
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup gravy
  • 1 cup stuffing
  • 1 dozen dinner rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and prepare a roasting pan with a rack.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with salt and pepper, then rub the mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin for extra flavor.
  3. In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion and celery until soft, then add the chopped sage and rosemary. Stir in the bread cubes and enough chicken broth to moisten the mixture, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Stuff the turkey cavity with the prepared stuffing, then place the turkey breast-side up on the roasting rack in the pan.
  5. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Baste occasionally with pan juices.
  6. While the turkey is roasting, steam the green beans until tender and prepare the mashed potatoes according to your favorite recipe.
  7. When the turkey is done, let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving. Heat the gravy and serve alongside the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, and dinner rolls.
  8. Enjoy this ultimate Christmas dinner with family and friends, cherishing the festive spirit!
