  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of ground beef or turkey until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the taco seasoning and 2/3 cup of water to the skillet, stirring to combine, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  3. While the meat is cooking, prepare the taco shells according to the package instructions, either heating them in the oven or warming them in a skillet.
  4. Set up a taco bar by placing the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, diced avocado, chopped cilantro, and sliced jalapeños in separate bowls.
  5. To serve, fill each taco shell with the seasoned meat and top with your favorite toppings from the taco bar.
  6. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos for an extra burst of flavor, and enjoy your family taco night!
